MSP क्या है? / What is MSP?

Minimum Support Price (MSP) is the guaranteed price the Government of India pays farmers for their crops. Even if market prices fall below this, the government ensures farmers receive the MSP rate — protecting them from market uncertainty.

न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य (MSP) वह न्यूनतम कीमत है जो सरकार किसानों को उनकी फसल के लिए देती है। बाजार में कीमत कितनी भी गिरे, सरकार MSP दर सुनिश्चित करती है।

How is MSP decided?

MSP is recommended annually by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). The rate takes into account the cost of production (A2+FL basis), input costs, market price trends, supply-demand balance, and a mandated 50% return over cost. MSP is announced before each sowing season so farmers can plan their crop choices accordingly.

Does MSP guarantee I will receive that price?

MSP is a guaranteed procurement price — the government commits to purchasing your crop at MSP through agencies like FCI, NAFED, and state procurement bodies if market prices fall below it. However, the actual mandi price on any given day may be higher or lower than MSP. When mandi prices are above MSP, selling in the open market is more profitable. When below, approach the nearest government procurement centre or PM-AASHA scheme outlet.

Does this calculator work offline?

Yes. All MSP data and calculations run entirely in your browser — no live data is fetched. Once the page has loaded, the calculator works without an internet connection. Use it in the field, at the mandi, or anywhere with limited mobile signal. Nothing you enter is stored or shared.

Which crops are covered?

The calculator covers all 23 crops for which the Government of India announces MSP — 14 Kharif crops (including paddy, maize, jowar, bajra, ragi, arhar, moong, urad, groundnut, sunflower, soybean, sesame, nigerseed, cotton) and 9 Rabi crops (including wheat, barley, gram, masur, rapeseed/mustard, safflower). MSP rates shown are for 2025-26 as approved by CCEA.
